What I Do On A Day Off From Riding Horses

As much as I love riding horses, having a day off gives me the chance to relax, recharge, and catch up on other aspects of life. While my days are usually filled with grooming, training, and spending time in the saddle, a break from riding allows me to focus on other enjoyable activities.

One of my favorite things to do on a day off is sleeping in a little longer. Since early mornings are the norm at the barn, having the chance to wake up at my own pace feels like a luxury. Once I’m up, I enjoy a slow morning with a good breakfast and a hot cup of coffee or tea.

Even though I may not be riding, I still like to visit the barn to check on my horse. I’ll spend extra time grooming, hand-grazing, or just giving my horse some well-deserved attention. It’s nice to bond without the pressure of training or a strict schedule.

When I’m not at the barn, I like to catch up on hobbies. Reading a good book, watching horse-related videos, or even baking something delicious helps me unwind. If the weather is nice, I might go for a walk, do yoga, or engage in light exercise to stay active.

A day off also allows me to spend quality time with family and friends. Whether it’s going out for lunch, shopping, or just relaxing at home, it’s refreshing to enjoy social time outside the equestrian world.

By the end of the day, I feel recharged and ready to get back in the saddle with fresh energy. Taking time off from riding isn’t just a break—it’s an important part of maintaining balance in my life.
