Riding My New Mare! Let’s See How This Goes
The moment I had been waiting for had finally arrived—I was about to ride my new mare for the first time! Butterflies fluttered in my stomach as I walked into the barn, greeted by the soft nicker of my beautiful girl. She was a sleek bay with intelligent eyes and a touch of sass that I already adored.
I took my time tacking her up, making sure everything was snug and comfortable. She stood patiently, flicking her ears back at me as if she knew something exciting was coming. Once I led her into the arena, I took a deep breath and swung into the saddle.
At first, she stood still, as if evaluating me. Then, with a gentle squeeze of my legs, she moved forward, her stride smooth yet powerful. I could feel her energy beneath me, testing the waters, waiting to see how I would guide her.
We started with a slow walk, then transitioned into a trot. She had a lot of spirit but was eager to please. A few circles in, I asked for a canter, and that’s when the real fun began! She launched forward with enthusiasm, her gait strong and confident. I laughed, feeling the wind rush past as we moved in sync.
Of course, no first ride is without a few hiccups. She tossed her head a little, testing my patience, and even gave a playful side step when she spotted a bird. But by the end of the ride, we had a rhythm—a new partnership forming with every step.
